David ‘Dave’ Paul Pety, 66, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at his home after a courageous battle with lung cancer.  Dave was born in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Maurice Paul Pety and Marjorie Marie Turnbull.  He married the former Martha ‘Mart’ Ann Bragdon on August 12, 1972 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant.

       Dave was employed for twenty years with Central Michigan Directories, with nineteen of those years as the manager.  He sold Prudential Insurance for many years.  His last occupation was as the owner of ‘Love That Soap’, a company he started from scratch and enjoyed working at until his health forced him to stop.  He was a former member of the Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis Club for many years.

         Surviving Dave is his wife, Martha ‘Mart’ Pety, three children:  Sarah Irene and Verne Stevens of Mt. Pleasant, Paul Robert Pety of Mt. Pleasant and Kellen Joy Pety of Mt. Pleasant.  Also surviving are grandchildren:  Sophia, Grace and Jacob Stevens, and Lucas, Isaac and and Levi Pety.  Two brothers, Gene and Joyce Pety of Lake Isabella and Jim and Christine Pety of Mt. Pleasant and four sisters, Anne and Jack Kopson of New Haven, Indiana, Lucille and Chris Haas of Carrollton, Texas, Evelyn and Herb Lance of Palmetto, Florida and Mary and Jim Hicks of Alma.  Dave was preceded in death by both parents and three sisters.

          A memorial service honoring Dave’s life will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11 am at Rowley Funeral Home with Dr. Sam Hoyle officiating.   Internment of the cremated remains will take place in Riverside Cemetery at a later date.  Friends and family will gather at the funeral home on Saturday from   10 -11 am.  Memorial contributions for Dave have been suggested to the Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund or the Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis Club.  Envelopes are available at the Rowley Funeral Home
